67.85 miles, total climb 3,035ft, average speed 13.6mph

We started on the Queens side of the 59th Street Bridge and cycled out into Long Island.  Very hot day to be on the bike and Neile’s promise of a ‘flat ride’ didn’t quite come to pass.  Tremendous fun though and we even managed to get everyone’s bike on to the Long Island Rail Road train thanks to a friendly guard ignoring his bosses loudspeaker announcement of “No Bikes!”.

The threat of a thunderstorm encouraged us to bail thirteen miles early, which was a shame as we were all cruising along quite nicely.

Thanks again to Neile for the great route and leading of the ride.
