74.5 Miles, total climb 4,502.1ft, average speed 14.5mph

A nice civilised start time of 10am saw the pals come together at the old start point of the Boat House in Central Park to set off for Bear Mountain.

The weather couldn’t have been better - sunny and warm but not humid.  Even the gruelling ten miles of Seven Lakes Drive couldn’t dent the spirits and the climb to the peak of Bear Mountain up the winding Perkins Memorial Drive was rewarded with some of the most breathtaking views you’ll find anywhere.

We finished the day with a nice dinner at the Depot in Cold Spring before jumping on the LIRR back to Grand Central and the autumn evening of Manhattan.

Only downside to the day, and I feel I have to mention it, was cycling through a rich part of New Jersey and seeing a demonstration against Obama, likening him to Hitler.  Just goes to show, money can’t by class, or an education it would seem.  Full marks to Abraham for calmly letting them know that they should be ashamed of themselves.
